Scientists have developed a method to produce millimeter-scale soft robots by chemically binding hundreds of microrobots together.

Charlie Maslen is a final-year Ph.D. student at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague. Whilst studying nanomaterials sciences as a graduate at Utrecht University, he first began research on the use of responsive hydrogels for microrobotic applications. He has since published work on microrobots that crawl in response to light, bubble-driven microswimmers, and new design principles for hydrogel actuators.
