In 1927 the German VDEh (“Verein Deutscher Eisenhüttenleute”, today: “Steel Institute VDEh“) founded a new scientific journal named Archiv für das Eisenhüttenwesen for the publications of reports from the VDEh and the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Institute for Iron Research (Today: MPIE, Max-Planck-Institute for Iron Research). Over the years the journal developed into the most important journal for the German steel research community.
Today steel research international is providing a forum for the publication of high-quality manuscripts in areas ranging from process metallurgy and metal forming to materials engineering as well as modelling, process control and testing.
Originally founded in German, the journal switched to English only in 1985 as steel research and was renamed eight years later to steel research international. The journal is supported by Editorial and Advisory Boards of top scientists from academia and industry and by publishers from Germany, Austria, France, Sweden and China. steel research international welcomes manuscripts describing basic scientific research as well as industrial research. The journal received a further increased, record-high Impact Factor of 1.235 (2017 Journal Citation Reports), an increase of 20% on the 2016 value.
In its 90th year of publication, steel research international welcomes you to look back on some important developments in the area of steel research as presented by authors from science and industry. Enjoy reading their reviews which are published in the recent Special Section “90 Years of Steel Research”!
