The EUROMAT conference will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, from the 17th to 22nd of September. This years’ edition of the EUROMAT conference will be a special one: not only is this the 15th edition of the conference, also the organizing society the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS) celebrates its 30th birthday. FEMS is a non-profit association of 28 European Materials societies and associations covering science and engineering in a wide variety of fields, including polymers, metals, composites, ceramics, glasses, as well as nano- and biomaterials.
Co-organized by two Greek FEMS member societies, the Hellenic Metallurgical Society (HMS) and the Hellenic Society for Science and Technology of Condensed Matter (HSSCTCM). The conference will host 57 symposia that are grouped into 8 areas, covering functional and structural materials, processing, characterization and modeling, energy and environment, biomaterials and healthcare, raw materials as well as education and technology transfer. The highlights of the conference represent the 9 plenary lectures that will be given by, for example, Prof. Doros Theodorou (European Materials Medal 2017 | Director of the Computational Materials Science and Engineering group, NTUA, Greece), Prof. Oliver Gutfleisch (Professor for Functional Materials, TU Darmstadt | Scientific Manager at Fraunhofer IWKS Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies, Germany) and Prof. Luis M. Liz-Marzán (Scientific Director of CIC biomaGUNE, San Sebastián, Spain).
Approximately 2000 participants are expected from more than 60 countries worldwide.
