This years’ EUROMAT2017 conference took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, 17-22 September.
Aqueous-Processed Hole-Transport Layer for High-Performance Solar Cells
Thomas D. Anthopoulos and colleagues report a simple, environmentally-friendly processing method for copper(I) thiocyanate (CuSCN), a next-generation hole-transport layer (HTL) for organic and hybrid perovskite solar cells. The power conversion efficiency reaches 17.5%—a remarkable improvement over conventional polymer HTLs.
Battery Power: Electricity and Chemicals from CO2
Of interest to the field of CO2 utilization is the adaptation of the above described energy storage system into one capable of fixing CO2 into a useful product, in this particular case carbon.
Learning from Ants
A calculation method based on a natural phenomenon helps to optimize lightweight laminates.
Happy Birthday Yusuf Yagci!

Two Decades of Dendrimers as Versatile MRI Agents: A Tale with and without Metals
A vast number of metallic and non-metallic labels can be conjugated to the dendrimer surface in order to transform them into MRI agents. Due to their multiple branches and high payload they can be readily detected, for example, following local delivery to a brain tumor.
Advances in Chemical Vapor Deposition
A new Special Issue entitled “Advances in Chemical Vapor Deposition” is published in Advanced Materials Interfaces in recognition of Professor Michael L. Hitchman
A Case for CO2-Sourced Sustainable Synthetic Fuels
Is the electrification of the global fleet of automobiles and trucks truly a panacea for curbing greenhouse gas emissions, stabilizing global warming and ameliorating climate change or, rather, is it merely a way of shifting the problem from conventional internal combustion to electric vehicles?
High-Performance Carbon Quantum Dots for Warm WLEDs
Highly efficient, red-emissive carbon quantum dots (R-CQDs) with a quantum yield of 53% are prepared and a CQD-phosphors-based warm white-light-emitting diode (WLED) is realized for the first time.
Plasma Technology in 2017: from the Lab to the Food Industry
A new review discusses the status and challenges we face in 2017 of transferring plasma technology to the food industry.
