ASM International this year awarded Marcus A. Grossman Young Authors award to Prof. IL Sohn of Yonsei University and advisory board member of Steel Research International. He shares the award with Sung Suk Jung, and the ceremony was held in the Palais des congress de Montreal, Canada during the recent MS&T2013 conference.
Prof. IL Sohn
Prof. Sohn received his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University and worked for several years as a senior research engineer at United States Steel Corporation. He joined the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Yonsei University in 2009 and is an associate professor and associate director for the Research Institute for Iron and Steel Technology. Prof. Sohn’s expertise in steel research extends throughout the life-cycle, from steel-making to casting & forming, and he recently published a comprehensive review on the relationship between viscosity and the structure of calcium-silicate-based slags in Steel Research International.
